time in years: part i & ii
This piece evolved over a number of weeks with each session being anywhere from a few moments to several hours. Consciously, but not in a driven way, I challenged myself to create and record a longer piece that incorporated some choice field recordings I had recently made. I say "not driven" because I try at all costs to let the piece dictate where it wants/needs to go, and not impart too headstrong an approach as to kill a piece's innate qualities. As I composed the track, its nostalgic feel began to slowly surface (in particular in Part ll), sonically creating what feels like a lost musical memory.
